Libraries

We have 5 play libraries located in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Kirkcaldy.

All libraries have scripts suitable for drama enthusiasts, and available for borrowing. There is a large collection of plays and sets of plays - full-length; one act; Scottish; plays from other countries; by famous authors (Ayckbourn, Albee,Corrie, Coward,Liz Lochhead, Miller, to Shaw, Shakespeare, Sheridan , and Wilde - to mention only some); plays for Easter and Christmas; pantos, musicals and many plays for youth groups.
S.C.D.A. Headquarters operates a discount service with the main publishers. If ordered through Headquarters, scripts will cost 20% - 30% less, depending on the publisher.

Members of the Northern Division of SCDA have completed cataloguing all One-Act Play, Musical and Pantomime scripts in the Aberdeen library onto a computer database. You can download a PDF version or an Excel version and a hard copy will also be provided in the library. Work has started on cataloguing the Full-length play scripts in the library and these will be listed on this website at a later date. Comments and any suggestions for improvement are welcomed and should be emailed to John Fraser.

As well as cataloguing them, we are re-shelving the scripts in alphabetical order by author’s surname, not in alphabetical order by title, which has been the practice until now. We believe this will make it easier for users to find what they want. We are also improving the labelling of the shelves.

If you remove any script from the shelves, please return it to the exact place where you took it from. However, if you prefer, or if you cannot remember where it was on the shelf, leave the script on the table and we will return it to its correct position. We would prefer that scripts were left on the table for replacing, rather than having it returned to the wrong place on the shelves.
